Upland Heights Elementary School

Laura Carter

Hello! I am part of the 5th grade team at Upland Heights. I have been teaching 5th grade math since 2009 and love sharing my passion for math with my students! I also have a love of technology and am always on the lookout for cool new ways to use it in my classroom. Teaching at UH is special to me because I've been teaching here since its opening; there is no place I'd rather be!

Here is a little about me: I have two miniature dachshunds, Lily and Chip, as well as a Goldendoodle, Charlie. I do some private math tutoring throughout the year as well. If I do ever have spare time, you can find me reading, crafting, antiquing or spending time with my family or my pups. I'm a native Texan and Techsan and proud to say that the tradition continued with my own children. My son is a 2018 Texas Tech graduate with a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering/Master's in Business. In November 2019 he got married, and he and my sweet daughter-in-law live in the Dallas area with their two dachshunds, Duke and Sadie. In May 2023, my daughter graduated with her doctorate in Physical Therapy from TTUHSC and also lives in the Dallas area. She is also a member of the dachshund club and has Rosie!
