Upland Heights Elementary School

About Mrs. Doerfert

I am proud to be a Frenship Tiger teacher since 2006!   I worked at Bennett Elementary for 10 years until transferring to Upland Heights Elementary when it opened in 2016.  Prior to becoming an educator,  I was a social worker for 21 years in 3 different states.  My passion has been and continues to be children, families and education.

My goal of traveling to and staying in all 50 states was attained goal in 2014 after finally getting to Alaska.

I am still looking to meet my goal of a hot air balloon ride and other adventures.

I am a life-long learner who loves looking at new dyslexia studies, attending conferences and absorbing as much as I can to help my students, their parents and my coworkers.

Other things I enjoy are photography, reading, being out and about in nature, spending time with my family, our puppy and fun times with friends.

I have a great deal of volunteer experience over the years in social welfare, church and my current focus is with CASA as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.  I have been a CASA Volunteer for foster children in Lubbock since 2013.  There are so many ways to make positive differences in people's lives!
