Upland Heights Elementary School

2019 District Battle of the Books Winners

By Angela Howard

Third, fourth and fifth grade students from every elementary campus in Frenship ISD gathered to compete in the 2019 District Battle of the Books at the Casey Administration Building.

Students were required to read 10 different books. In the competition, a fact was given, and students had to tell which book that fact came from. Students were allowed to discuss with their teammates for 30 seconds before giving their response.

Each campus held a Campus Battle of the Books competition in February. The winning team from each grade level on each elementary campus was selected to participate in the District Battle of the Books.

At the District competition, teams were randomly selected to compete with each other. The teams advanced through a double elimination bracket system, and the team with the most points moved on until there was ultimately one winner in each grade level.
