Conversations with Frenship – Chelsey Campbell

Will Frenship Memorial High School offer all the same programs and activities as Frenship High School?

Frenship Memorial High School will have the same academic and extracurricular opportunities as Frenship High School. The facilities are outstanding! The opportunities for our Frenship students have doubled. We will have all the same fine arts programs, athletic programs, curricular offerings, and extracurriculars. The positive is now we have more room, more seats, more positions, and more opportunities for all our FISD students.

What makes Frenship Memorial High School different from Frenship High School?

Frenship Memorial High School is the first in many ways. It is the first time Frenship has opened a second high school. It is the first time to add another mascot to the Frenship family. It is the first time our current students have had the opportunity to participate in picking school colors, a school mascot, and even a school song. While it is a first, and different from Frenship High School, it still operates on the beliefs and values of Frenship ISD. We will seek perfection and capture excellence along the way!

What was the process like for deciding on the name, colors, and logo?

Watching the students participate in suggesting, voting, and selecting a mascot and our colors was incredibly rewarding. It already started the family bonding process that our Panthers needed. They joined together, put their hearts into it, took the process seriously, and then they were able to celebrate. The day we announced the Panther mascot has been my favorite so far. The excitement and energy at Heritage Middle School and Terra Vista Middle School was contagious! The students knew what direction they were going in, and it was so obvious that they got exactly what they had hoped for! There isn't a better way to start out than that! The Panther Pride is already contagious, and I am grateful to be a part of it!

Who will attend Frenship Memorial and when will it open?

The construction process is currently underway and on time! We are scheduled to open in August of 2025. The attendance boundaries for high school students was approved last January and will follow a feeder pattern. Heritage Middle School and Terra Vista Middle School students will attend Frenship Memorial High School. Frenship Middle School and Alcove Trails Middle School students will attend Frenship High School. In August of 2025 when we open our doors, Frenship Memorial will start with 9th and 10th grade only. Every year, we'll add a new grade and in the 2027-2028 school year Frenship Memorial will have 9-12th grade. In May of 2028, we will have the first graduating class of Frenship Memorial.

Have you been out to see the construction process? What are some of the notable features?

My visits to the construction site are so exciting! It is one of my favorite parts of this current school year. The facilities are immaculate. Right now, you can see the Fine Arts facilities taking shape. The Performing Arts Center is coming together beautifully. The CTE area of the building is top-notch, I can't wait to see the learning taking place in these areas. The indoor athletic facilities are taking form, as well as the football field, soccer pitch, baseball and softball fields. The ‘Panther Pit’ is in the ground, and I can't wait to see our students competing there.

How can people support Frenship Memorial High School?

We are looking forward to August 2025, but you can begin supporting Memorial High School and our students right now! We just launched our Facebook Page, please go out and follow us as we will update you throughout the year and of course once school begins you can find everything Panther related on our page! You can also support MHS by purchasing the first official Frenship Memorial Panther t-shirt from the Frenship website! All proceeds go towards our principal's fund to be spent directly on Memorial students, staff, and celebrations.

In preparation for opening Frenship Memorial High School, what does your day-to-day look like as principal?

Preparing to open a new high school building is not only a large feat, but such an honor in so many ways. I will spend the next several months working with each of the departments at Frenship to ensure we are prepared to offer the same academic and extracurricular opportunities as we offer at FHS. My time is mostly spent working through funding, furniture, technology, instructional programs, policies, safety and security, staffing, professional development and so much more. I also have the exciting opportunity to participate in the 2024 Principal's Institute where I will represent Frenship in this year's cohort. During my travels to the different conferences each month, I will be able to collaborate and connect with administrators from across the state. I will be learning alongside colleagues and ensuring that we are making exceptional strides toward transforming learning for our Frenship students.

What is the most important thing future parents and students need to know about Frenship Memorial High School?

Frenship Memorial High School is such an exciting opportunity for our students, parents, and community. We are ready to welcome our future students, eager to see them get involved, proud to see them take advantage of the opportunities of a new school, and to watch them find comfort in the same outstanding values and traditions Frenship ISD has offered our students for decades. Go Panthers!!!
