Frenship’s Maintenance Coordinator Receives National Award

FacilitiesNet is a facility and maintenance management resource that provides cost-saving insights, product research, education, salary information, job postings, discussions about building design, construction, management and maintenance. FacilitiesNet recently announced the recipients of their third annual Facility Champion Award.

This national award was given out to only eight individuals who exhibit strong leadership, demonstrate engagement and pride within the industry, and have proven success in improving their facilities operations.

"The facility management industry is full of so many amazing individuals," said Dan Weltin, editor-in-chief, facility market for FacilitiesNet. "Narrowing down entries to only eight winners was an incredibly difficult task, but I'm proud that we are able to recognize these deserving managers. Winners come from all levels of experience and a variety of markets, but they all share standout leadership traits and have a passion for this industry."

This year there were more than 100 nominations for the Facility Champion award. Frenship is proud to announce that Allen Tanner, Frenship’s Maintenance Coordinator, is one of the recipients of this competitive award.

“I nominated Allen for this award because of his exceptional dedication and impact that he has in our FISD Facilities Department and our great district,” said Shane Langen, Frenship’s Director of Facilities. “He consistently demonstrates outstanding leadership and problem-solving skills, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.”

Tanner's dedication to continuous improvement and his leadership within the team have set a high standard for others to follow.

“His proactive approach not only minimizes downtime, but also fosters a positive working environment,” said Langen. “He also takes the time to mentor others and share his knowledge, which significantly contributes to team cohesion and overall performance. His commitment to Seek Perfection, Capture Excellence and the ability to tackle challenges head on, make him truly deserving of this recognition.”

Tanner shares that he feels honored to receive this award and credits his success to the support and dedication of his team.

“I am truly honored to receive this award and would like to express gratitude for everyone involved in this recognition. The Facility Champions Award holds a special significance as it reflects the combined efforts of the entire department's collaborative approach,” said Tanner. “This award is not just a reflection of my efforts but a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. Together, we have tackled challenges and celebrated successes, and this award symbolizes our collective efforts. I look forward to building on our success and contributing further to our shared mission to improve the Frenship district.”

When Tanner started working at Frenship in 2006, the district had eight school buildings. Now, the district has doubled in school buildings with 16 total, one administrative building, one maintenance building, and one custodial building, all of which he helps oversee and manage. With nearly 40 years of experience in maintenance, Tanner feels grateful to be in the Frenship Family and impact students' lives.

“Being a part of a school district family has many rewarding aspects. For me, it is an opportunity to make a positive impact on students’ lives and pour into a teamwork environment where everyone works together towards our common goals,” said Tanner.

Being surrounded by a team that shares his passion for success fuels him to follow through with the district’s vision of seeking perfection and capturing excellence.

“The satisfaction of achieving high standards, combined with the potential to positively influence others, fuels my pursuit of perfection and excellence,” said Tanner. “Each challenge presents an opportunity to learn and grow, inspiring me to push the boundaries of what’s possible. As a department I believe I can speak for everyone saying that we all want to leave our mark and be remembered for doing our best.”

Langen is extremely proud to see Tanner honored with the Facility Champions Award and believes it speaks on behalf of his strong team of staff members.

“I am incredibly proud to see Allen Tanner honored with the Facility Champions Award!  His hard work, dedication and leadership have made a significant impact in our district,” said Langen. “It is wonderful to see his efforts recognized, as he truly deserves this acknowledgment for consistently going above and beyond to ensure our facilities run smoothly.  This award not only celebrates his achievements, but it also showcases his awesome staff and their commitment to excellence.”

Langen recognizes the vital role that teamwork plays in enhancing the district's facilities and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. He is proud to see Frenship recognized at the national level.

“After serving as the Director of Facilities for two years and collaborating with other districts, I can confidently say that we truly are blessed to have well maintained, clean, safe, and dependable facilities for our students and staff here at Frenship,” said Langen. “This achievement is a direct result of the unwavering commitment from everyone involved. Their dedication not only enhances our learning environment but also positions our district as one of the best places to work in Texas. I am proud of what we all have accomplished together as a whole district, and I am excited about our continued success as the district continues to grow.”

Congratulations, Allen Tanner!
